Eligibility Criteria & Guidelines:
  • To Apply for a Grant from the Bright Mountain Foundation, an Organization Must:

    • Be a non-profit organization, governed by a board of directors, and classified 501(c) (3) or have a fiscal sponsor classified 501(c) (3).
    • Serve residents of the State of Colorado..
    • Provide direct services for one or more of Bright Mountain's focus area: children and youth between 6-18 years of age at risk for, or living with, mental health issues; people at risk for, or living with, HIV/AIDS; and seniors lacking adequate support to maintain their independence.
    • Only organizations that are equal opportunity employers will be considered for funding. Grant applications to be considered must have an anti-discrimination statement that includes race, color, creed, gender, class, sexual orientation, national origin, citizenship status, age, disability, or veteran status. The Foundation strongly encourages non-profits to include gender identity or expression in the organization’s anti-discrimination statement.
    • Faith-based organizations may be eligible if services provided are secular and the organization – and its affiliates – do not discriminate based on religious beliefs in services, employment practices, or policies.

Bright Mountain Foundation does not fund:

    • Administrative costs or general operating expenses. Grant awards will be given to applicants who wish to fund direct services to our targeted populations, and funding for program staff related to the proposal is admissible.
    • Grants to individuals, scholarships, endowments, fund-raising events, annual fund drives, or debt reduction.
    • Religious or Faith-based organizations that require membership in a certain religion or advance a particular religious faith.
    • Late, incomplete, or unsolicited proposals..

    Additional Guidelines:

    • Normally, only one grant is made to an organization in a given fiscal year.
    • Priority is given to organizations which are able to demonstrate cultural/linguistic competence for the population(s) served.
    • Special consideration will be given to agencies that provide health benefits for non-married partners of their employees regardless of sexual orientation.
    • Measurement of outcome or impact of services is required as part of the funding process. A final report must be submitted (see Reporting Requirements) before an organization may reapply.
    • Recognizing the importance of a diverse funding base for non-profit organizations, the Bright Mountain Foundation does not provide funding to an organization for more than three consecutive years. After a hiatus of one year, an organization may reapply.
